Explode, Simplify and Explode Everything functions in the CDT

When viewing or adding formulation compositions you can adjust the structure in many ways. A common request is to flatten/explode/open out sub-formulations.

To explode sub-formulations such as dilutions and bases, you can use ‘Explode’ or ‘Explode Everything’.

To use Explode:
Highlight the formulation in the CDT, select ‘Explode’ from ‘Other menu’ > the application will explode the target formulation to one level.
Note: If any sub-formulations have the setting ‘Prevent Explosion’ = Yes*, then the user is given a warning ‘The Item is marked to prevent explosion. Explode the Item regardless?’ and user needs to choose ‘Yes’ to proceed.

To use Simplify:
Select ‘Simplify’ from ‘Other menu’ > the application will explode the whole formulation to all levels.

Note: If any sub-formulations have the setting ‘Prevent Explosion’ = Yes*, then these will not be exploded.

To use Explode Everything:
Select ‘Explode Everything from ‘Other menu’ > the application will explode the whole formulation to all levels.
Note: Setting ‘Prevent Explosion’ = Yes is ignored and all formulations are exploded to all levels.

*The most common use of ‘Prevent Explosion’ is to indicate a sub-formulation is a base held in stock and therefore should not be exploded in a normal situation.
